Bobble Hats!

I’m going to sound terribly British talking about the weather, but lets face it…London is getting COLD. And the only happy prospect that this cold weather brings about is that I can now wear cute bobble hats and big chunky scarves. And these Lazy Oaf arrivals are perfect for just that!

Matthew Brandt

As Matthew Brandt clearly points out in his interview with Dazed and Confused ‘…only through experimentation can you arrive at something new.’ And Brandt is clearly someone who follows this. His latest photographic collection titled ‘Lakes and Reservoirs’ involves experimentation of blending the natural world in with a digitally captured one.

Brandt has hiked to hill tops and spent time on strangers balconies to capture the perfect picture of these natural landscapes. Then once photographed has collected pockets of water from these lakes and reservoirs, and once taking C-Prints of the photographs, has soaked them in the collected lake water. This process has produced some beautifully obscure yet vivid shots of these natural landscapes. The explosion of volcanic-esque colours of yellows, oranges and reds mixed with the bleak colours of the lakes and reservoirs creates a strikingly mesmerising effect.

Magpie Mode..

It’s safe to say I’m a big glitter fan…have been for most of my life. Sparkles tend to send me into magpie mode (although is the whole magpies love shiny objects just an urban myth?) At a daunting £555 I can merely stare at the new Mui Mui arrivals at Net-a-Porter wide eyed but a girl can dream right?

I like how Net-A-Porter haven’t gone the obvious route of styling the shoes with a dazzling evening gown. They’ve stayed true to Mui-Mui’s classic style and teamed it with a tailored coat and black dress, to let the shoes stand out in their true style.

Get Those Legs Out

Bitching and Junkfood have brought us these denim lovleys through their Urban Outfitters store. With a passion for vintage clothing, Bitching and Junkfood take classic vintage pieces and rework them to something new and unique. Take these shorts..they’ve taken three pairs of classic jeans and using their quirky style given one a wink on the rear, one a sequinned hem and turned one into suspenders.

I’d be happy to get my legs out wearing one of these.

Post Potter Depression

One word…epic. So many amazing Deathly Hallows moments I couldn’t possibly sum them up into words, so instead I give you GIFS.

I am now going through a terrible phase of PPD..Post Potter Depression. Can’t wait for Pottermore but now I’m going to pass these long days by reliving the films with clips and GIFS.

The Hedgehog and the Frog…

Once upon a time lived a beautiful jewelled frog. Now this frog wasn’t the sort that went around telling princesses to kiss them, in the hope to become a prince. This frog was humble and sweet…simply hanging round the necks of lovley ladies. And whilst this frog wasn’t busy being a beautiful necklace he hung out with his spikey little hedgehog friend…

You can pick up these lovely little animal treasures from Topshop

Liberty Jewellery Spotlight

Till the 10th June, in store Liberty is featuring new jewellery from some new cutting edge talent. Now I have a soft spot for jewellery, so whilst browsing through some of the designers featured I did have a little moment of excitement!

One designer featured is Alex Monroe. Alex, who was awarded ‘Designer of the Year’ at the UK Jewellery Awards, use quirky objects inspired by nature as his inspiration. I’m particularly fond of the charmingly intricate necklaces which include golden picnic hampers, pears, teacups and bicycles. Alex’s jewellery has gained wide recognition, but I love how he still makes the original by hand, and  the rest is all made close to home in London.

I also had my eye on vintage jewellery designer Annina Vogel. Annina’s obsession with antique jewellery started from a very young age. She had already bought and sold her first diamond ring by the tender age of 11, and the collection has been ongoing since. She features a whole array of vintage charms with foxes, cupid hearts, sparrows, anchors, clocks, camera’s, flags, teapots…and the list is endless. Each piece of jewellery made Annina is completley unique, being it only made once. Annina makes it her purpose to transform every single piece of golden charm into something special…

“Gold is a very good investment at the moment, the cost of it just keeps on rising. This means that a lot of unworn antique and Victorian jewellery is being scrapped and melted, our history and heritage is being lost with it. Annina is making it her mission to save as much Antique Gold as possible in its original form such brooches, studs, and charms. She then transforms and revives it into something contemporary and fashionable, presenting it in a different way whilst maintaining the integrity of its original character.-Anninavogel.co.uk

As well as in store, both collections by Alex Monroe and Annina Vogel are featured on the Liberty website. Not in my price range but hey..I can still enjoy them plenty!

Yang Du…

These wonderfully kitsch, oversized jumpers hail from BFC New Gen designer Yang Du. The main theme throughout her collections are cute little, almost surreal, animal prints and motif’s.

I imagine wearing one of her dresses, would bring out this overly wacky side, where you just walk around with a big grin plastered across your face as shown…

From artist to designer, Yang Du blurs the lines between fashion and art. Where along side her collections many of her beautiful illustrations are also featured. And you can really see this translated into her work where you are basically wearing an unique, fun illustration.

As well as oversized dresses there are countless cute little (or big in some cases) hats and finger puppet gloves.

Now, I’m going to go off and be all fun and kitschy!

Food For Thought?

Remember those best friend necklaces when you were younger. One would have the best and one would get the friend. It was something that me and my best friend would relish at the chance of buying. She always got the best and I always got the friend, it was our thing. It’s part of the many fond memories I have. I was reminded of these necklaces today whilst browsing through Etsy, when I came across this Peanut Butter and Jelly Bestfriend Necklace. My best friend is a peanut butter obsessive and me the jam fan. Now is that not perfect? It looks so frickin tasty as well.

And if you’re not one for peanut butter and jelly sandwiches why not try a slice of Pumpkin Pie?

The Kooples

So there I was, casually flicking through last month’s issue of Elle and suddenly I come across an interesting advert. It’s not your run of the mill ‘pretty pouty girl in a floaty dress’ but a very gorgeous looking couple. An effortlessly cool, young European couple who go by the names of Johan and Mikaela. And I am then informed they have been a couple for a year and they have something to do with ‘The Kooples’. At this point I’m eyeing Mikaela’s bright pink blazer and shorts..and well just eyeing Johan.

A quick google search, a little exploration and now I’m hooked. The Kooples represents masculin/feminin hipster fashion in its most chic form, with sharp details and a minimalist edge. I love how a woman can wear their clothes, look feminin but have that male edge.

Plus they have an amazing section of the website where you see these young, cool couples revealed. It’s romantic, it’s sweet and shows a couple can wear near matching outfits and look so effortless whilst doing it…

I adore this pink blazer and shorts, sported by Mikaela. I’d like to think someday, I will walk around London in a bright pink/purple/blue/red/orange (delete as appropriate) and look as cool as she does..

Click on the little music icon at the bottom as well…Them Youth, LCD Soundsystem, Scissor Sisters..need I say more.
